We haven’t celebrated Valentine’s day in quite some time now. I think it’s really more for the newfound loves in the world to help instill the sense of romance in budding relationships. And I also believe it’s publicized entirely too aggressively to pad the bottom line of retailers. (I’ll save that topic for later.) That doesn’t stop me from crafting some sort of decoration for the day. I’ll always use special days as an excuse to knit or crochet a special piece to commemorate the day. This year, this cute wreath. The original pattern is for a Christmas wreath.
After nearly 27 years of togetherness, romance has taken on a new meaning for me. It’s certainly isn’t about jewelry, flowers & candy. It’s about the closeness we enjoy. Our love for our family and faith. The inside jokes we share. The little things that make up everyday life. Like when he makes sure our online backup subscription has enough room for all my knit & crochet patterns. That’s true love my friends!
It’s so much more than one day each year. I use this one day each year to reflect on those little things. It’s easy to get caught up in life and miss the seemingly insignificant moments that bind relationships. They are there, you just have to recognize them.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your love.
And to my love, you add more to my life than you know. Your kind and gentle nature brings joy to my heart. Your emotional strength lifts my spirits. May we have many more Valentine’s Days together. xoxo
